About the Author

Emily Bront (18181848) was an English novelist and poet, best known for her only novel, Wuthering Heights. Born in Yorkshire, she was the fifth of six Bront siblings, who all showed early literary talent. Emily lived a largely secluded life, shaped by the wild moorland landscape that inspired her writing. Though initially published under the pseudonym Ellis Bell, Wuthering Heights gained recognition for its originality and emotional power, though it was controversial at the time for its unflinching portrayal of passion and cruelty. Emily died of tuberculosis at just 30 years old, never knowing the lasting influence her novel would have on English literature. Today, she is celebrated as one of the most important and enigmatic voices of the 19th century.
