This book consists of nine short stories based on the experiences of a Puerto Rican family and their friends in the New York neighborhood and the diaspora from the 1950s to the present. The stories, though fictional, highlight themes of childhood memories, ethnic identity, conflict, and cultural change. The experiences are typical of many members of the New York Latino community in those historical periods.
