About the Author

Khushwant Singh (19152014) was a renowned Indian author, journalist, and editor, celebrated for his sharp wit, secular outlook, and candid writing. A graduate of Government College, Lahore, St. Stephen’s College in Delhi, and King’s College London, he read for the Bar at the Inner Temple and served as a practising lawyer before entering journalism. Singh held editorial positions at several prominent publications, including The Illustrated Weekly of India, Hindustan Times, and National Herald. His literary works, such as Train to Pakistan and Delhi: A Novel, have earned him a lasting place in Indian literature. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2007.
