Introduction by Clara Clemens, one of Mark Twain’s daughters, in which she explains how her father translated a German book of rhymes into English for her and her sisters during a stay in Germany. He gave the book to the girls for Christmas and read it to them on Christmas Day in his own “inimitable, dramatic manner.” Here is the book with illustrations by German graphic artist Fritz Kredel.
