Gullivers Travels is a satirical adventure novel by Jonathan Swift. The story follows Lemuel Gulliver, a ships surgeon who embarks on several voyages to strange and imaginary lands. In Lilliput, he encounters tiny people; in Brobdingnag, he finds himself among giants; in Laputa, he meets impractical scientists obsessed with abstract ideas; and in the land of the Houyhnhnms, he discovers intelligent horses who rule over degraded humans called Yahoos. Through these fantastical journeys, Swift satirizes politics, human pride, scientific ambition, and the flaws of society. Though often read as a childrens adventure, the novel is a sharp and witty critique of human nature and 18th-century European society.
