Brian MacArthur was a distinguished British journalist and editor, renowned for his significant contributions to the media industry over several decades. Born in Chelmsford, Essex, in 1940, he embarked on his journalistic career after studying at Leeds University. His early roles included reporting for the Yorkshire Post, Daily Mail, The Guardian, and The Times, where he became the education correspondent. In 1974, he was tasked with launching The Times Higher Education Supplement, which he edited with notable success.
