During World War II young Captain Hugh Lomax came to the Greek Island of Kyros to destroy a Nazi stronghold. He was captured but managed to escape to the safety of England and to the peacetime years.

Now he has returned to the island and the horror of the events after his escape become known to him. His mission on Kyros had been betrayed and innocent men and women had been executed. To this day the people of Kyros believed that Hugh Lomax was the traitor.

Only lovely Katrina, now grown to womanhood, had believed in his innocence. Everyone else on Kyros wanted vengeance. Hugh knew his chances of finding the real culprit were slim. Almost as slim as his chances of staying alive. But would it be worth living in the shadow of a traitor and a murderer?
